About the Contest

Traditional Wing Prep
All wings must be prepared on-site starting from raw ingredients. Frozen or pre-cooked wings are strictly prohibited to ensure maximum freshness for our community.

Competition Guidelines
Arrival time will be 8 am and judging will begin around 1 pm. Teams will be judged on their sauce flavor, team name, preparation & presentation. Judges will be members of the youth program including adults, sr high youth, and jr. high youth. This will be a learning experience for them as well. Keep in mind that some junior high youth still have sensitive palettes when selecting the level of heat.

Hygiene & Safety
Professional food handling standards must be maintained throughout the event. Every station will be provided with access to water, but you must bring a generator for electricity. Bathrooms will also be available throughout the event.

Judging & Rewards
Judging will begin around 12:30 pm and Awards will be handed out around 3 pm. Number of awards will be proportionate to the number of registered teams. It's important to note that this is mean to be a fundraiser for a non-profit organization. Awards will be Amazon Gift Cards and trophies with the intent that teams will be able to upgrade their BBQ tools.

Where is the contest held?
The BBQ Wing Contest takes place at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.

How are the wings judged?
Judges will be associated with ECHO student ministries and most will have very little experience with judging BBQ cooking contests.
Do I need to bring my own grill?
Yes, all contestants are responsible for bringing their own cooking equipment, including grills and charcoal. We provide the prep tables and the wings!
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, there is a small fee to register. Most of the profits will support ECHO Student Ministries and the costs for the awards. Program and event coordinators are all volunteers
